What you always wanted to know about Wollsdorf Leder and leather production

From where does Wollsdorf Leder source its raw material?
Wollsdorf Leder's leather is a natural product; its first-class raw cowhides are sourced from the Alpine region and Central Europe. We also strictly adhere to ecological and qualitative criteria when selecting our suppliers.

Are animals slaughtered to produce leather?
Not one single animal is slaughtered as a direct result of leather production.
In contrast to the fur- and pelt industry for which often entire animal farms are established, the hides used by our company are essentially "waste products" from the meat industry.

Does Wollsdorf Leder's leather production contribute to environmental pollution?
We develop safe products and procedures that fulfill their purpose with the least amount of environmental strain. We are pioneers in environmental protection and have received many environmental certificates. In our operations we ensure the observance of standards on every day of the year.

What happens to the waste materials from the leather production process?
Wollsdorf Leder practices waste recycling and waste avoidance. The efficiency of the waste recycling process depends on the capacity and technical expertise of the respective leather producer. In this area, Wollsdorf Leder has become the internationally recognized market leader.

How does Wollsdorf Leder differ from the competition?
Wollsdorf Leder is the technological market leader for steering wheel leather. Moreover, our customers also profit from our expert advice, flexible and timely order processing and an extensive customer service.

What advantages does leather have over textiles?
Leather is a quality nature product that corresponds to current trend for natural materials. Each piece of leather is unique; no animal hide is the same as another and leather as a natural product is a "healthy material".
Leather is healthy. Premium exclusive leather - as produced by Wollsdorf - is skin-friendly and free of harmful materials. Leather, in contrast to textiles, is especially hygienic since dust cannot penetrate the surface material. The natural breathability of leather - as an essential quality characteristic - is also preserved.

What is the difference between leather and leather imitations?
Real leather is natural and healthy and adapts to the temperature and humidity of the environment.
Leather imitations, however, do not have this adaptive quality; they are also not sufficiently elastic or durable.

Do leather coverings make people sweat?
Leather is breathable in all processing variants; a constant air- and humidity exchange occurs.
